A titanyl phthalocyanine crystal having an X-ray diffraction spectrum
having a plurality of diffraction peaks in which a maximum diffraction
peak is observed at a Bragg (2 .theta.) angle of
27.2.degree..+-.0.2.degree. and a diffraction peak is observed at a
lowest Bragg (2.theta.) angle of 7.3.degree..+-.0.2.degree. when a
specific X-ray of Cu--K.alpha. having a wavelength of 1.514 .ANG.
irradiates the titanyl phthalocyanine crystal. A photoreceptor having a
photosensitive layer including the titanyl phthalocyanine crystal is also
provided.
