Oxygenase enzymes and the use of such enzymes to produce paclitaxel (Taxol.TM.), related taxoids, as well as intermediates in the Taxol biosynthetic pathway are disclosed. Also disclosed are nucleic acid sequences encoding the oxygenase enzymes.
