solvates thereof. R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently H or
C.sub.1-3alkyl, m is 0 3; X.sup.1 is NH, NCH.sub.3, O, S; R.sup.3,
R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are independently H, CH.sub.3, CF.sub.3, OCH.sub.3,
allyl or halogen; X.sup.2 is (CR.sup.10R.sup.11)n wherein n is 1 or 2;
R.sup.10 and R.sup.11 independently represent H, fluorine or
C.sub.1-16alkyl; R.sup.26 and R.sup.27 are independently H, C.sub.1-3
alkyl or R.sup.26 and R.sup.27 together with the carbon atom to which
they are bonded form a 3 5 membered cycloalklyl ring. R.sup.6 and R.sup.7
independently represent H, fluorine or C.sub.1-16alkyl; R.sup.9 is
C.sub.1-6alkyl or CF.sub.3; One of Y and Z is N, the other is S or O;
Each R.sup.8 independently represents CF.sub.3, OCH.sub.3, CH.sub.3 or
halogen; y is O, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Use of a compound of formula (I) for the
manufacture of a medicament for the prevention or treatment of a hPPAR
mediated disease or condition, such as dyslipidemia, syndrome X, heart
failure, hypercholesteremia, cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes
mellitus, type 1 diabetes, insulin resistance hyperlipidemia, obesity,
anorexia bulimia, inflammation and anorexia nervosa ##STR00001##
