A medical device for placement in an incision. The medical device includes
a cannula member configured to be inserted into the incision. The medical
device also includes a guide wire holding member having a base member
connected to the cannula member. Wall members are connected to said base
member and form an open channel along said cannula member. A guide wire
or fixation pin can be inserted into the guide wire holding member. The
guide wire holding member can be configured as an open c-shaped channel
or a plurality of curled tabs to hold the guide wire. The various
configurations of the guide wire holding member can be constructed
without the use of tapered or flared pins in an injection molding
manufacturing process.
