An allocating section allocates the plurality of the performance patterns to the plurality of the controls. A reproducing section is responsive to operation of the controls for reproducing the performance patterns allocated to the operated controls. In case of creating music, a setting section is operated for setting timings of reproducing the performance patterns while operating the controls. A composing section operates based on the selecting of the performance patterns and the setting of the timings for composing a sequence of the performance patterns, the sequence being effective to enable the portable terminal set to sequentially reproduce the selected performance patterns at the set timings.
