A radiation image storage panel has a phosphor layer composed of a
phosphor matrix compound and an activator in combination, a subbing layer
composed of the phosphor matrix compound, and a support, in which both of
the subbing layer and phosphor layer have been formed by a gas
phase-accumulation method and in which the subbing layer has a relative
density of 60% to 98%, and a surface of the support in contact with the
subbing layer shows a contact angle of less than 50.degree. to water.
