The invention provides a hub motor for a wheeled conveyance having a
stationary electric motor encased in a rotating, multi-part housing, at
least one of the parts of the housing constituting a wheel disk and a
wheel rim, and a reduction gear internal or external to the motor, the
output member of which is adapted to drive at least one part of the
multi-part housing, wherein the rim portion of the multi-part housing
carries, and is in direct contact with, a wheel tire.
