A viewing device includes a housing defining an interior chamber through
which light can pass. The housing includes first and second spaced apart
openings communicating with the interior chamber such that light entering
the first opening is viewed by a user looking into the second opening.
The second opening is further configured to receive sound created by the
user and the housing is configured to transmit the sound entering the
second opening toward a sound exit location of the housing at or near the
first opening. The second opening can define an eyepiece portion into
which the user looks and a mouthpiece portion into which a user speaks.
The viewing device can take the form of a periscope toy.
