Disclosed are phosphor compositions having the formulas Ca.sub.1-a-bCe.sub.aEu.sub.bAl.sub.1+aSi.sub.1-aN.sub.3, where 00; and Ca.sub.1-g-h-iCe.sub.g(Li,Na).sub.hEu.sub.iAl.sub.1+g-hSi.sub.1-g+hN.sub.- 3 where 0.ltoreq.g.ltoreq.0.2, 00. When combined with radiation from a blue or UV light source, these phosphors can provide light sources with good color quality having high CRI over a large color temperature range. Also disclosed are blends of the above phosphors and additional phosphors.
