The present invention relates to a process for the production of potassium octoborate hydrate which comprises the dissolution of boric acid and caustic potash in an aqueous solution brought to a temperature of 95.degree. C., the drying of the product obtained and its grinding into an amorphous powder. Potassium octoborate and its polyhydrate forms obtained are specifically suitable for use in the agronomic field.
