A liquid crystal panel (10) has a scanning line (Y) and a data line (X), a
TFT (30) connected to the scanning line (Y) and the data line (X), a
pixel electrode (32) connected to the TFT (30), and a rectangular
opposite electrode (C) arranged oppositely to the pixel electrode (32)
through a liquid crystal layer. The liquid crystal panel (10) is driven
by a scanning line driving circuit (20) which supplies a scanning signal
including a scanning period selecting at least one scanning line (Y), a
data line driving circuit (22) which supplies a data signal to the data
line (X), and an opposite electrode driving circuit (24) which changes a
voltage supplied to the opposite electrode (C) corresponding to the
selected scanning line in synchronization with the scanning period, and
inverts the polarity of a voltage applied to the liquid crystal layer.
