A method of increasing sustainable bandwidth in a multiple disk storage
system that comprises reading a first part of a data file from a first
track location on a first hard disk drive, and reading a second part of
the data file from a second track location on a second hard disk drive,
wherein the average of the data transfer rates from the first track
location and the second track location is greater than the data transfer
rate of the first track location. The method may be used for increasing
sustainable bandwidth in a multiple disk drive storage system in a
computer. A system for implementing the method is also disclosed.
