The present invention is a merchandising system and method for the
organized display, selection and purchase of products, particularly, food
and non-food items for a meal kit, which can be customized to the taste
and size preferences of the consumer. The system comprises a display
apparatus, a plurality of food items, a food item identification and
selection guide and a take-away bag. The display apparatus, food items,
and food item identification and selection guide utilize indicia (for
example, colors) to assist the consumer in the identification and
selection of food items to create a customized meal having a protein,
seasoning or sauce, starch and vegetable.
