A liquid crystal display panel and a fabricating method thereof for
improving an aperture ratio. The liquid crystal display panel of a
horizontal electric field applying type including: a gate line formed on
a substrate; a data line crossing the gate line, with a gate insulating
film positioned therebetween, the crossing of the data line and gate line
defining a pixel region; a thin film transistor including a source
electrode and a drain electrode formed at the crossing of the gate and
data lines; a passivation film for protecting the thin film transistor; a
common line overlapped with and insulated from at least one of the gate
line and the data line; a common electrode connected to the common line
and formed in the pixel region; and a pixel electrode connected to the
drain electrode, wherein a horizontal electric field is formed between
the common electrode and the pixel electrode.
