A system for browsing a computer network includes at least one server that is programmed to generate page print data incorporating visible data representing information for reading and invisible coded data. At least one network printer is connected to the server and is configured to print the visible information with conventional ink and the pattern with invisible ink that is capable of being read with an optical reader. At least one optical reader is connected to the, or each respective, printer and is capable of detecting the invisible ink to generate a signal representing the coded data. The, or each, server is programmed so that at least a portion of the coded data represents at least an instruction to one or more servers to retrieve further page print data from the network.
