There is provided a series of novel .alpha.-(N-sulfonamido)acetamide compounds of the Formula (I) ##STR00001## wherein R, R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are defined herein, which are inhibitors of .beta.-amyloid peptide (.beta.-AP) production and are useful in the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease and other conditions affected by anti-amyloid activity.
