Methods and apparatuses for electrically coupling to percutaneous probes
wherein entry angles of the percutaneous probes are controllable. An
apparatus in accordance with one embodiment of the invention includes a
percutaneous electrode having a first segment with a first sharp end and
a second segment with a second end, at least part of the first segment
being aligned along an axis and at least part of the second segment being
offset from the axis. The apparatus can further include a coupling member
having an aperture with a wall portion, at least a portion of which is
electrically conductive. The apparatuses include shaped support surfaces,
and associated methods wherein a non-planar support surface can more
easily match a recipient's skin surface contour for improved comfort and
security upon attachment.
