A lobed exhaust diffuser apparatus, system, and method configured to cool
exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine comprises a diffuser
having a proximal end, configured to receive exhaust gases from the
engine, and a distal end, configured to expel the exhaust gases into the
atmosphere. A plurality of lobes are disposed on the distal end such that
at least a portion of the exhaust gases pass through the lobes,
increasing the interaction surface area between the exhaust gases and the
atmosphere, allowing for more rapid diffusion and entrainment between
exhaust gases and atmospheric gases, resulting in more rapid cooling of
the exhaust gases.
