A cosmetic composition containing a polyether urethane thickener corresponding to formula I: ##STR00001## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3, independently of one another, represent linear or branched alkyl and/or alkenyl groups containing from about 6 to 22 carbon atoms, x, y and z, independently of one another, represent a number from 1 to 10 and k, m and n, independently of one another, represent a number from about 10 to 200.
