The invention relates to a method for the production of salts of weakly coordinating anions of the type according to the following formula (1), (2) or (3): M[F--X(OR F).sub.m].sub.z (1), M[(.sup.FRO).sub.mX--F--X(OR.sup.F).sub.m].sub.z (2), M[(.sup.FRO).sub.mX--F--X(OR.sup.F).sub.n--F--X(OR.sup.F).sub.m].sub.z (3), these salts of weakly coordinating anions and use thereof.
