This invention provides an ophthalmic lens of high tensile elongation (i.e., that does not break easily). It is an ophthalmic lens comprising, as a polymerization component, monomers represented by formula (a) below: ##STR00001## wherein, in formula (a), R.sup.1 is H or a methyl group; R.sup.2 is a group that is selected from alkyl groups with 1 to 8 carbon atoms, aralkyl groups with 7 to 12 carbon atoms and aryl groups with 6 to 10 carbon atoms; L.sup.1 is a substituent that is selected from ethylene groups, 1,2-propylene groups, 1,3-propylene groups and 1,4-butylene groups; and L.sup.2 is a substituent that is selected from methylene groups, ethylene groups, 1,2-propylene groups, 1,3-propylene groups and 1,4-butylene groups.
