The present invention relates to beta-peptoids with antimicrobial activity. The present invention also relates to methods of producing .beta.-peptoids. The antimicrobial .beta.-peptoids of the invention are useful in pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical device, industrial, food, agricultural, and personal care applications.
