A safety management system includes a processor and memory in which a
safety database is maintained. The safety management system receives
safety data from one or more portable devices and/or computers, and the
system stores this safety data in the database. When a safety incident
occurs, such as an accident, the type of incident is recorded and
additional information about the incident is recorded in the database.
This information then is used to generate a model of the rate of safety
incidents. This model is then used to forecast future safety incidence
rates for planning and budgeting purposes.
