Tellurium-containing nanocrystallites are produced by injection of a
precursor into a hot coordinating solvent, followed by controlled growth
and annealing. Nanocrystallites may include CdTe, ZnTe, MgTe, HgTe, or
alloys thereof. The nanocrystallites can photoluminesce with quantum
efficiencies as high as 70%.
