subpixel electrode and having a second voltage; a second panel including
a common electrode facing the pixel electrode and supplied with a common
voltage; and a vertically aligned liquid crystal layer that is interposed
between the pixel electrode and the common electrode, wherein a steepness
of light transmittance as function of a voltage applied the first
subpixel electrode with respect to the common voltage is lower than about
