The method involves impregnating a fibre mass with a liquid binder system and subjecting the so-obtained impregnated fibre mass to a drying step while the impregnated fibre mass is deposited as a layer on one side of a performed sheet incorporating an intumescent material so as to, at least, substantially remove the carrier liquid.
