First and second user monitors are configured to communicate with an interrogator to establish the presence of the user monitors in a defined space. An information server is configured to determine a degree to which the users of the first and second user monitors are permitted to exchange information according to security matching criteria applied to user profiles. Security alert signals are sent to first and second match indicators. The first match indicator is visible to the user of the second user monitor so as to be informative to the user of the second user monitor of a degree to which the users of the first and second user monitors are permitted to exchange information according to the security matching criteria. The second match indicator is visible to the user of the first user monitor so as to be informative to the user of the first user monitor of a degree to which the users of the first and second user monitors are permitted to exchange information according to the security matching criteria.
