The present invention relates to a genotyping kit for diagnosing patients
infected with human papillomavirus (HPV), and a method for diagnosis of
HPV infection by genotyping specimen DNA isolated from the patients using
the said kit. The genotyping kit of the invention comprises a DNA chip
with probes that have nucleotide sequences complementary to DNA of HPV,
primers for amplifying the DNA of a sample by PCR, and means for labeling
hybridized sample DNA with the DNA chip. The method for diagnosis of HPV
infection comprises the steps of amplifying DNA obtained from a sample
using the primers of the kit, applying the amplified DNA to the DNA chip
and hybridizing the amplified DNA and the probes of the DNA chip, and
detecting DNA bound on the surface of the DNA chip by labeling hybridized
DNA. In accordance with the invention, the genotyping kit may be
practically applied to the early diagnosis, prevention and treatment of
cervical cancer, since the kit can easily diagnose HPV infection, and can
exactly determine the genotype of the HPV.
