The present invention relates to a device for the distraction of the spinous processes of two adjacent vertebrae. The spinous processes of the two vertebrae are supported on two separated distraction means being attached to a central body which can be expanded in an infinitely variable manner. The central body can be moved apart in an infinitely variable manner and be fixated along at least one guiding means. By moving apart the central body, the distraction means are expanded along the axial axis and thus distract the spinous processes of the two vertebrae supported on them. Furthermore, holding means can provide for a stable positioning of the implant and prevent an unwanted movement of the device after the implantation.
