Provided are a magnetic recording and/or reading apparatus and a method of
manufacturing a power transmitting gear. The magnetic recording and/or
reading apparatus includes a power transmitting gear. The power
transmitting gear has one end coupled to a loading motor and the other
end coupled to a plurality of link gears to transmit power from a loading
motor to drive components during loading and unloading of a magnetic
tape. The power transmitting gear includes a first gear engaged with a
motor gear coupled to a shaft of the loading motor. The power
transmitting gear also includes a second gear engaged with one of the
plurality of link gears and a shaft member coupling the first and second
gears. A space is formed inside the shaft member to prevent the shaft
member from deforming during manufacture of the shaft member.
