Silyl ketene acetal compounds having a partial structure of formula (1) wherein R and R.sup.2 each are a monovalent C.sub.1-C.sub.12 hydrocarbon group and n is an integer of 1-6 are useful as a terminal alkoxysilylating agent, surface treating agent, storage stabilizer, curing agent or the like ##STR00001##
