This invention comprises the novel compounds of formula (I) ##STR00001## wherein r, s, A, X, Y.sup.1, Y.sup.2, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 have defined meanings, having farnesyl transferase inhibiting activity; their preparation, compositions containing them and their use as a medicine.
