The invention concerns compounds of general formula (I), wherein n, X.sub.1, X.sub.2, X.sub.3, X.sub.4, Z.sub.1, Z.sub.2, Z.sub.3, Z.sub.4, Z.sub.5 and W are as defined herein. ##STR00001## Said compounds are ligands of the TRPV.sub.1 vanilloid receptor, and are therefore, useful for treating diseases associated with TRPV.sub.1 receptors, such as pain and inflammation.
