The backlight system includes a plurality of light emitting devices arranged on a base plate to form a plurality of lines each including a plurality of light emitting devices, and a light guide panel having a sidewall spaced apart from the plurality of light emitting devices such that light incident from the plurality of light emitting devices is dispersed by inner reflection, and a scattering region formed adjacent to the base plate such that light incident into the scattering region is irregularly reflected to emit in a direction away from the base plate.
