A shoe comprising: an assembly of a shoe upper and sole unit for
supporting a foot, the assembly defining a foot compartment that orients
a foot in an objective (desired) tri-planar alignment to affect three
areas of the foot anatomy simultaneously: (1) the sustentaculum tali; (2)
the lateral calcaneus; and (3) the fifth metatarsal ray of the foot. In
certain embodiments the shoe compartment is configured to correct an
adverse internal rotation of the talus by: (1) vertical lift on the ST;
(2) varus movement of the calcaneus; and (3) fifth ray pressure to adduct
the forefoot.
