A thermal transfer recording material contains at least one colorant represented by the following general formula (II), ##STR00001## wherein R.sub.21 and R.sub.22 each represent a substituted or unsubstituted aliphatic group; R.sub.23 represents a substituent; n represents an integer of 0 to 4; when n is 2 or more, R.sub.23 is the same or different each other; R.sub.25 and R.sub.26 represent alkyl groups respectively; and at least one of R.sub.25 and R.sub.26 represents a secondary alkyl group.
