The present invention is directed to acyl and sulfonyl derivatives of 6,9-disubstituted 2-(trans-1,4 -diaminocyclohexyl)-purines of the formula ##STR00001## where Z is selected from the group consisting of --S(O).sub.2--, and --C(O)--.
