Disclosed are novel DNA probes useful in detecting a nucleic acid sequence encoding a novel Lepidopteran- and Coleopteran-active .delta.-endotoxin polypeptide. Also disclosed are nucleic acid detection methods and kits involving the novel DNA probes.
