A liquid crystal composition having a nematic phase and including a compound represented by Formula (1), a compound represented by Formulas (2-1) and (2-2), and a compound represented by Formulas (3-1), (3-2) and (3-3), and a liquid crystal display device including the composition: ##STR00001## wherein, for example, R.sup.1 is alkenyl having approximately 2 to approximately 12 carbons; R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are alkyl having approximately 1 to approximately 12 carbons; Y.sup.1 and Y.sup.2 are fluorine; X.sup.1 and X.sup.5 are hydrogen; and X.sup.2, X.sup.3 and X.sup.4 are hydrogen or fluorine, provided that at least one of X.sup.2, X.sup.3 and X.sup.4 is fluorine.
