A flame-retardant synthetic resin composition characterized by comprising 1-40 parts by weight of at least one type of organic phosphorus compound represented by the following general formula (1): ##STR00001## (wherein R.sup.1 represents alkyl, aralkyl, etc.) with respect to 100 parts by weight of a synthetic resin.
