A process for treating a surface comprises said surface being treated with (a) at least one hydrophobicizing agent, (b) at least one crosslinked organic copolymer in particulate form, (c) at least one film-forming addition copolymer having epoxy groups, NH--CH.sub.2OH groups or acetoacetyl groups, (d) if appropriate one or more emulsifiers,and subsequently dried.
