A new composition, SbVPO.sub.6+.delta., in which 0.ltoreq..delta..ltoreq. 1.5, has been prepared. Crystals of the compound have been grown by several methods, and the crystal structure has been determined. It is related in structure to vanadyl pyrophosphate (VPO), an important selective oxidation catalyst. The compound has shown utility as an oxidation catalyst.
