A method for producing such an electric double layer capacitor electrode and an electric double layer capacitor are also disclosed. The electric double layer capacitor is characterized by sealing a polarized electrode, wherein a pattern of electrode active material layer is formed on at least one surface of a collector through intermittent application by a die-coating method or a comma reverse method and the pattern is composed of electrode active material layers arranged at intervals at least in the longitudinal direction of the collector, at least a pair of polarized electrodes, a separator and an electrolytic solution in a container.
