A process for separating (-)-.DELTA..sup.9-trans-tetrahydrocannabinol from a mixture of cannabinoids is disclosed. The process comprises at least one chromatographic step wherein a mobile phase passes trough a stationary phase. The stationary phase comprises a derivatised polysaccharide and the mobile phase comprises carbon dioxide.
