Copolymers including structural units derived from .alpha.-methylene-.gamma.-butyrolactone, styrene, methyl methacrylate and, optionally, acrylonitrile, may be used as protective layers in multilayer articles that include UV sensitive substrate materials. The multilayer articles may also include a silicone hardcoat.
