The present invention provides a method of administering formoterol, for
example as a fumarate dihydrate, using a nebulizer device for the
treatment of bronchoconstriction, such as that caused by asthma and
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The method of this invention is
particularly useful in pediatric, geriatric, handicapped and acutely ill
individuals who have been denied the benefits of this medication due to
the standard use of dry powder inhalers. The present invention addresses
the difficulty of making available a viable commercial nebulizer solution
for these individuals who cannot optimally use powder inhaler devices,
which are the only presently available delivery systems for this
medication.
