Compositions and related methods of Cissus quadrangularis plant extracts
and soy albumin that improve various cardiovascular risk factors and
metabolic risk factors that cause Syndrome X. In one exemplary
embodiment, university studies demonstrated that a formulation of 300 mg
Cissus quadrangularis plant extract, 3 mg niacin-bound chromium, 500 mg
of green tea extract, 24 mg of selenium, 100 mg of soy albumin, 100 mg of
vitamin B6, 0.1 mg of vitamin B12 and 0.8 mg of folic acid to obese and
overweight humans daily for eight weeks provided unexpected synergistic
results that improved a variety of health related factors. In particular,
supplementation with the Cissus quadrangularis formula resulted in
significant weight and fat loss, decreased systolic and diastolic blood
pressure, decreased total and LDL cholesterol levels and triglycerides,
C-reactive protein and fasting blood glucose levels, improved total
cholesterol/HDL and LDL/HDL ratios, increased HDL cholesterol, serum
serotonin, creatinine and urinary malondialdehyde levels, and improved
fat burning mechanisms.
