The present invention discloses a novel use of a catalyst with core-porous
shell structure, which includes carrying out an oxidation of an alcohol
in vapor phase and in the presence of the catalyst with core-porous shell
structure to form an aldehyde or ketone, wherein the catalyst with
core-porous shell structure is constituted of a core material and a
porous shell material. The core material is a metal having a catalytic
activity, and the shell material is a porous inorganic oxide.
