The present invention relates to compounds of formula (I) ##STR00001## which inhibit acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and are useful for the prevention or treatment of metabolic syndrome, type II diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases in humans.
