Driver assistance system of a land or water vehicle that encompasses a
long-range radar apparatus for the detection of distant objects and at
least one short-range detection apparatus for the detection of objects in
the vehicle's close proximity. The system further includes an operation
control apparatus for control of operation at least of the long-range
radar apparatus depending on a motion state of the land or water vehicle.
The operation control apparatus is configured to deactivate the
long-range radar apparatus at least at standstill of the land or water
vehicle or switch it to an essentially powerless standby mode, while
keeping the short-range detection apparatus activated.
